A UK retailer can trade as if it reported when a larger peer prints first. Liquidity seekers lean on the liquid name; narrative seekers reach for the nearest comparison. By lunchtime the peer may have moved more than the reporter.

For reaction tracking, the question is not “did our holding report?” but “whose number is the tape answering?”

What we log

On cluster days we keep a short peer column beside each priority name: who reports nearby, how often spill has appeared in prior seasons, and whether the relationship is sector-wide or pair-specific. If spill is historically loud, we treat the peer’s print as part of our watch window even when our holding is silent.
